30 -. A third time lucky ....

With the new part no longer appear oil leakage.

Gradually, things go back to his place.

... but we will remove the crankcase cover. Although no oil leaks are on the rear crankshaft seal rear dry sump is not why?

The piece that holds the rear latch carries a felt seals on both sides, although well pinched when mounting with oil soaking time ranging up on the outside.

We'll try to remove the felt, it was the best solution to the early 60s and inject special pressurized sealing paste.

Injector pressure liquid gasket designed for the occasion by Gonzalo and me.

29.-.... et voilà !!... it was not a gasket

It was not a gasket, it was worse.

With the case back to the board room watching intently separation between the gearbox and closes tightly Overdrive:

Gonzalo sees a fissure through which the oil can go outside. Looks like a weak review since the problem appears symmetrical on both sides of the plate point.

For "BECAUSEAS"!, Parts list and a wait ...and lets rebuild the overdrive.

and wait for the spares.

A little rubbing on the clutch

In tests on the vehicle a slight resistance was observed in the clutch maneuver . This resistance was not perceptible to disengage , but it felt as if the clutch pedal will be slightly hooked. With the box removed and clutch changes in sight it was time to inspect the set .

We see that the fork that pulls the clutch bearing has slight wear .

With a flat file and wrist is enough to grind the stumps push .

Ground and polished fork thrust.

If you have to act on the changes or the clutch is advisable to check this piece as this can solve problems of lack of smoothness in the clutch.

As we take the box out we replace the O-ring that acts as a buffer in the actuator shaft overdrive .

Recent details mount shifter selectors .

No rush , experience and good work of Gonzalo advised to wait ...A point to be mounted back on the chassis, power cables overdrive actuation of sight, with the box of oil remains suspended for 24 hours to identify any loss of tightness.

Noting the slightest loss of oil.

After a few days of observation even a tendency to " sweat" oil at the joint between the gearbox and overdrive is observed.

If stopped " sweats " what will hot ? .

Imposed investigate. Next chapter not miss " in search of lost catch ."

27 - . Gearbox - disassembly

Return to start .... bell out again and gearbox out , you can see the diaphragm clutch flywheel .

Someone has taken the shift lever ?

A starting point to dismantle the set .

The gear system . Had it not been for the loss of oil we had not opened the box , because it works perfectly , no noise, no pulls and marches come very gently. Yet now that it is removed take the opportunity to replace timing gears .

Vision rear bearing retainer and front and rear and front , one of those responsible for the loss of oil besides the joints.

Vision emsamblaje with overdrive , it is important to proceed carefully disassembling to avoid losing sight of the springs and since the objective is reassembling the same ...

As the Romans said " Alea iacta est"

New material ready to be mounted : bearings , impellers , seals , circlips and pressure transfer axis :

Set of game pieces with new gaskets.

The next chapter .... outcome. They cake using the new material and get it working again .

It is very useful information available on the website of "TR Register Spain Club" , "Documents " A " Repair Manual Laycock Overdrive " that may prove very useful for the occasion is available.

26 -. Competing

Before you start repairing the gearbox, the Triumph took his debut.
On the grill there were Historic American cars:

Classic, as a "DS" several 600 and Volkswagen

and some English car with RHD.

The Triumph attended the Stand Carburació Delta Sport.

The Triumph won the oldest sports car award.

Although double-edged tongues and full of evil claimed that the award was for the veteran driver, this aspect has been completely debunked.
